Wondering what the difference between a Registered Dietitian and a nutritionist is?

A Registered Dietitian is an individual who has intensively studied and received a degree in the sciences of food and nutrition from an accredited institution. After receiving a degree (at least Bachelors) a Registered Dietitian must complete a Dietetic Internship Program where she/he is exposed to various settings of practice including in-hospital, out-patient, private practice, management and others. During the internship the individual practices counseling clients with various diseases under the scrutenizing eye of Registered Dietitians and doctors. Upon completion of the Dietetic Internship the individual then has to take the registration examination to become a Registered Dietitian. A Registered Dietitian therefore, understands the complicated metabolic functions of the human body in sickness and health.

A nutritionist is anyone who gives diet advice.
